After my 7T splitter died (after many years of use) I thought I'd upgrade to the 9T. It is larger, heavier and more difficult to manhandle, but has been taking everything I've thrown at it. The assembly instructions are difficult to follow and the diagrams don't always match the machine.
Setup was pretty straight forward. Unit takes 8.5lts of hydraulic oil, not 5. Split half a tonne of red gum and iron bark first try, most split through first pass. A few jammed then I worked the edges of the blocks which broke them up in no time. Good value and the 4 way splitter works a treat.
Splitter arrived on a timely fashion. Was easy to put together, takes way more than 5ltrs of oil otherwise works a treat.
I have used the new splitter on various types of wood and found it excellent.
Did everything that was promised. Split a lot of logs that had been sitting around for years. Had a small oil leak from one of the chrome pipes but BBTA were quick to send a replacement part. All good now.
Has split all that I have asked it to do - including Iron Bark. Instructions are wanting in many areas - does not seem to fit this particular model. Otherwise I am very pleased with it - would recommend it to anybody who is serious about block splitting. The optional extra stand is almost a must for anybody over 5'4" in height - otherwise the back can be a problem.
So far it works well. Look forward to split red gum and iron bark. Hopefully no more axes and block splitters.
What I thought was going to be a costly disposal of tree stumps turned out to being able to put pressure on the twisted roots with the splitter causing it break up and the wood is now in the wood pile. Just terrific !!
Very impressed it splits everything that I put in it. My only critism is the instruction book which offers no real clarity for assembly or operation. The saving grace is that assembly is fairly straight forward and the support line is particularly helpful and responsive.
